Name: David Stack

Age: 34

Date Of Birth: 28/07/1980

Occupation: Personal Trainer

Education: Graduated with a diploma in Exercise & Health Fitness from the Univeristy of Limerick in 2011

After dave had finished his diploma in Exercise & Health fitness from the Univeristy of Limerick in 2011 he decided to start running marathons from then on, he has ran several marathons including Limericks prestigeous great limerick run since it first began. Dave then found a flair for running, although he was always into fitness and sports including boxing and running.

A few years on and dave is still at the fitness and sports he has set up a running club in the last few months on facebook. When I asked dave why he set up the club called Route 1 Running he said he had set up the club after a few of his friends had kept asking him to go running and to help them out with their running, He said they had asked for his help on the great limerick run for the 10km run and the half marathon. It was then when he decided to help others so he put the club on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/route1running/timeline), He says the entire idea of putting route 1 running on facebook was to help others out, to introduce people to something they may or may not have done before & to try to encourage them to stick out the bad weather that Limerick City has to offer, he says it is very hard to get people motivated and to keep them motivated enough to leave their nice warm houses go out into the rain and run under davids command, don't get me wrong david is no drill sergeant but he has that extra energy and extra buzz that everyone looks for in a great coach and personal trainer.

When dave started route 1 running on the 03/02/2015 it was all of around 12 weeks out from the main event. He says he started everyone out on a 2.6km run and now 9 weeks into the program the group are up to 7km. This is a huge improvement for all and dave so far has done amazing work. He goes on to tell me that his program is not only to get everyone over their finish line for the great limerick run or for them to get their medal it is also for them to show themselves that they have what it takes to set their mind to a goal and go for it.

Dave tells me that he still remembers his first time on a threadmill when he had just finished 3km for training and it nearly killed him, but he says he is glad he stuck at it as he now has a whole new lifestyle and he is able to help others complete their own personal goals in fitness which give him huge pleasure in knowing he has helped someone possibly chnage their lifestyle for the better.

The groups will be finishing the current programme at the finish line on the May weekend. He goes on to say "I told everyone I will be with that main event, I will be with them every step of the way right up until we cross that line and I will keep that promise"

Surreal fitness will be following route 1 running to the finish line and will be routing for the group all the way. We here at surreal fitness want to wish dave and his club all the best and may their hard work pay off.
